How Love Machu Picchu researches, fact-checks and updates its Machu Picchu, Cusco and Sacred Valley guides — and who writes and edits them.

The short version
  • Every guide is researched against primary sources and reviewed by a named editor before it publishes.
  • Time-sensitive facts — entry prices, circuit rules, permit dates, fares — are linked to their official source so you can re-verify.
  • Recommendations are editorial and independent; we take no payment for inclusion and run no affiliate links.

Who writes and edits these guides

Love Machu Picchu's guides are written and edited by Marisol Quispe, Editor, Love Machu Picchu, with the Love Machu Picchu editorial team. Cusco-based travel editor who has walked every circuit, ridden both rail lines and timed the citadel through both Andean seasons.

Each page carries a visible byline and a last-updated date, so you always know who stands behind the advice and when it was last checked against the live rules.

How we research and fact-check

We build guides from primary sources first: the Ministry of Culture for the timed-entry ticket and circuit system, the rail operators for the line through the gorge, and our own time on the ground across both Andean seasons. Where a fact can change between visits — the price of a ticket, the rules of a circuit, the February Inca Trail closure, an Inti Raymi date — we link the official source and tell you to confirm it before you commit money or time.

We separate the durable from the perishable. Evergreen advice (why the citadel sits lower than Cusco, how the acclimatization ladder works, what each circuit actually sees) is written to last; perishable detail (this season's prices and permit windows) is flagged as such.

Independence and corrections

Recommendations are editorial. We accept no payment for inclusion, run no affiliate links, and earn no commission on the tickets, trains, treks, hotels or tours we mention; if that ever changes, we will say so plainly on the page. Photography is either our own or used under licence with attribution.

We update pages as the rules and the seasons change, and re-date them when we do. If you spot an error, tell us and we'll fix it — corrections to factual mistakes are made promptly and noted where they matter.
